Encounter Books
is an activity of Encounter for Culture and Education, Inc., which is
supported by The Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation. Encounter is
dedicated to strengthening the marketplace of ideas to help preserve democratic culture.
The president and publisher of Encounter Books is Roger Kimball. Mr. Kimball is
also publisher of The New Criterion, and an art critic for The [London]
Spectator
and National Review. In addition, he is the
author of a number of highly acclaimed books, including Tenured Radicals: How Politics Has Corrupted Higher Education, The Long March: How the Cultural Revolution of the 1960s Changed America and The Rape of the Masters: How Political Correctness Sabotages Art.
Since 2000, Encounter has published hundreds of titles. Its titles are in the holdings of an
estimated 20,000 libraries nationwide and have won several important
prizes. Foreign distributors sell Encounter’s books in their
English-language versions in Europe, Australia and the South Pacific,
Hong Kong, and Latin America.
